Recently, I had the pleasure of hearing from students in several different settings. Three themes came through clearly in those conversations: voice, relevance, and joy.

Voice. Students want us to listen to them, especially when we make decisions that affect their experiences at school. Their perspectives can help us understand what is working and what we need to improve.

Relevance. We have wonderful students who want to connect with us and engage in learning. They also have a great deal competing for their attention. When we ask them to take on a task, it helps to explain why it matters alongside how to do it.

Joy. Students want to learn in a happy environment with adults who enjoy being there. Life can sometimes pull our attention away from what brings us joy—I know I am as susceptible to that as anyone. I hope we can each find moments of joy in the work we do with students every day.

Seeking Input: FBHS Stadium Facility Conditions

and Benefits of Improvements

The City of Fort Bragg is applying for grant funding to improve the track and playing field at Fort Bragg High School’s stadium. The proposed project would include an all-weather track and an improved playing surface, creating a safer and more reliable facility for students, athletic programs, and the broader community.

As part of the grant application process, the City is gathering community input regarding the current facility and the potential benefits of these improvements. We invite parents and guardians to complete a brief survey and share their perspectives.

Each month focuses on a new topic, and MCOE Instructional Coaches Richard Becker and Jennifer Davis will have classroom supplies to give away, too! EVERYONE MUST COMPLETE KEENAN COURSES ANNUALLY

Fort Bragg Unified School District is using Keenan Vector Training, K-12 Edition, again this year to offer training courses online for staff convenience.

Follow these easy steps to complete your

Fort Bragg Unified School District training requirements:

Using your web browser, go to the Keenan Vector Training, K-12 Edition website for Fort Bragg Unified School District: https://fbusd-keenan.safeschools.com/

Enter your Username: [first initial][last name] - No Caps / No Spaces

The due date for training is August 18. It will be adjusted in the Keenan Application soon.

Classified Employees of Fort Bragg Unified School District who are eligible under the California School Employees Association (CSEA) agreement may sign up using the form on the left. Employees must pass the Bilingual Proficiency Assessment online test with a score of eighty (80) percent or better to be considered "proficient."

The Bilingual Proficiency Assessment may be taken one (1) time per year, and an eligible employee who passes the test does not need to retest to remain considered "proficient."

A test time will be scheduled based on your responses regarding your availability.

Please be sure you allow a full hour for arrival and completion of the online assessment. Testing is done at the FBUSD District Office, 312 South Lincoln Street.
