FBHS Lady Wolves Basketball gets the 43-42 victory
over Urban in the NCS Quarter Finals!

I hope everyone had a great week. I have had the opportunity to support our amazing Community Engagement Initiative team this week. They have done some amazing work on creating a plan to increase staff, parent, and student engagement in our district. We will pilot some opportunities for staff development in the summer and fall. Our ultimate goal is to increase high quality engagement activities for our students and parents through support of our staff. We look forward to sharing more with you about this work and the connection to our equity work.

I would also like to shout out to our staff taking part in the Culturally Proficient Instruction book study. This book study will deepen the staff understanding of designing instruction to celebrate the cultures that are present in our school. Ultimately, this work will support accessing and celebrating the brilliance our students come to school with every day!

Have a great week!

-Joe

The California Student Media Festival (CSMF) event is free for TK-12 students to enter, and free to attend. Any student media creation may be entered between Jan. 20, 2025, and April 1, 2025; the festival will be held on May 17, 2025, in person at Hollywood High School.

Now in its 58th year, the CSMF is our nation’s oldest student media festival. Over the past twenty-five years, CSMF has awarded more than $175,000 to California Schools. It has expanded to include the work of more than 6,000 student contestants from schools across the state. The festival exists to celebrate the amazing media and multimedia projects produced by California’s students and teachers — rewarding and acknowledging their successful classroom work.
