Shout out to Pilar Gray, Director of Nutrition Services! FBUSD has been awarded the $200,000 CDFA Farm-to-School Grant! This grant runs through October 2026 and we are so excited to receive this support for our Farm-to-School programs, incredible teachers & gardeners, and local farms!

Fort Bragg Unified School District Now Using
Frontline Absence Management System

RECORDS TEACHER ABSENCES and ASSIGNS SUBSTITUTES

Using Frontline, teachers can now:
  • enter your (employee) absences
  • check your absence schedule 
  • update personal information
  • upload lesson plans for substitutes

We will have an Equity Committee this year. The committee will hold the first planning meeting in October and meet monthly through the rest of the year.
Please let Joe know if you are interested in being a part of this committee. 

There will be an opportunity for a book study to support equitable teaching practices. More information about this opportunity will be provided soon.

Bilingual Glossaries for most subject matters. 

These Bilingual Glossaries and Cognates were created for educators, students, parents, and families in supporting instruction for our English language learners. These glossaries may be downloaded, printed and disseminated to educators, parents and ELLs/MLLs.

For Elementary Grades:

Spanish Language Stories and Resources from Sesame Street.

September’s Harvest of the Month
is GROUND CHERRIES!
Take your students on a virtual field trip to 
Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens
to learn about Ground Cherries!  
Here is a link to a short video you can show your students.
Iris will have Ground Cherries in the Elementary Garden
classes for the kids to try!
Please show your students this video before they go to garden class.

UPDATED DCEC Book List

CLASSIFIED and CERTIFICATED STAFF MEMBERS ARE ELIGIBLE

Professional Reading to grow and develop instructional skills 
and allow for advancement on the Salary Schedule.



For Information on eligibility for District Committee for the Evaluation of Credit.
Remember to submit the DCEC form
to the Human Resources Department by October 15th.

The DCEC committee meets annually between October 16th and October 26th
to review applications. The committee will accept or decline each application.

The DCEC Chair will notify the Human Resources Department of the
committee decisions before October 31st.

If advancement on the Salary Schedule is approved, the unit members shall receive retroactive payment at the new rate and the new rate shall begin with the December paycheck for that year.

Announcing ConnectCare3 – A Wellness Opportunity

Staywell is excited to announce a new wellness opportunity for all Mendocino County Schools employees (in districts that participate in Staywell)!  ConnectCare3, our health and wellness partner, offers a platform and app created to engage and educate users about wellness.  Some highlights include:

  • Health Risk Assessment – Complete the confidential assessment in only 5-10 minutes to obtain your wellness risk and gain a better understanding of your overall health. Download a report to share results with your physician or simply have a starting point for healthy changes you may want to make.
  • Wellness Goals – Set your own personal wellness goals and easily track your progress.
  • Wellness Challenges – Participate in wellness challenges individually or grab a few co-workers to also participate for some friendly competition and accountability.
  • HealthyU – Check out the online wellness education courses on a variety of topics. The courses are self-paced, so you can go through them at your convenience.
  • Resource Library – Search current and evidence-based information specifically from the Mayo Clinic. You will also find links to the ConnectCare3 Podcast (Connected) and a recipe library.
  • ConnectCare3 Clinical Services – (For employees and dependents enrolled in Staywell, Mendocino County Schools health insurance plan), learn more about the ConnectCare3 clinical services that are cost-free and entirely confidential.
