News, Notes & Reminders...

• Thank you to everyone for a smooth opening this year. It was lovely to see so many smiling faces. Our schools are such wonderful places for our students because of you! I hope you can all get some rest this weekend. 
• If you haven't picked up your FBUSD T-Shirt, we have them in the district office.

• Please complete your Keenan Training before September 5. 
• Westport Fire Department is having a fundraiser on Saturday, August 19 with some of our former students performing. 
• Did you know we have a telehealth benefit as a part of our insurance plan? This is particularly helpful if you need to see a specialist or have dependents attending college out of the area. Click the image for the subscriber (employee) or dependent below for more information.

HR Notes from Suzie

• Official transcripts in unopened envelopes or emailed directly to Suzie Gibson (Certificated HR) or Jessica Marion (Classified HR) will be accepted until October 15, 2023.

   

  FBUSD job descriptions can be found on the District website. https://www.fbusd.us/

   

  Please let the HR department know if you have any credentialing changes. The Commission on Teaching Credentialing does not have an automatic notification system. It could affect your pay range.

   

  Your employee portal is a great way to keep your contact information current. It is on the FBUSD website, employee resources, and then Employee portal.

  How to register:

  Go to fbusd.us 

  Click Employee Resources

  Click Employee Portal

  Click Create New User (You must be logged into your FBUSD email account first)

  Fill in the boxes and hit submit. 

  Check your email for a verification code, and enter it in the portal.

   

   Once registered, please check the information entered on the My Information tab. 

  The portal lets you update your employee information, view recent pay stubs, reimbursements, W-2s, benefits info, leave balances, etc. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact the District Office staff.

EL Notes from Tina

• There are many, many specific and elaborate lessons in Ellevation. There are 108 'strategies' that would work for a variety of lesson plans, such as 'I Notice, I Wonder':
  Students will:

  • Make observations and jot down what they notice about an image, text, or problem
  • Wonder about the image, text, or problem and jot down questions
  • Share observations and questions with class

  There are also 783 lessons in all subject matters, such as Math: 'Add and Subtract Vectors', Social Studies: 'Aztec and Inca Cultures', Science: 'Cellular Division', and ELA: 'Analyze Contrasting Points of View'. 

  These lessons are very detailed and contain several activities, videos, and printouts. I highly recommend perusing Ellevation Strategies when you have a chance! https://app.ellevationeducation.com/

• 988 Crisis and Suicide Lifeline has gone active nationwide. Anyone can call or text 988 to be connected with a mental health counselor trained to support crisis intervention for substance abuse, suicide, or other mental health needs. You can find out more about the Lifeline at this link.
